Christ the King Catholic School in Fort Smith, AR is hiring a Kindergarten and 6th Grade teacher.  

A qualified applicant will be able to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential and spiritual growth. As a Catholic school teacher and an employee of the Catholic Church, the employee must uphold all teachings of the Catholic Church whether Catholic or non-Catholic.

The Catholic school teacher must:

understand and accept the role of the school as unique pastoral, education agency of the Church.
understand and be willing to implement the philosophy and goals of the school.
be willing to attend liturgies and prayer experiences that are celebrated for faculty growth and for the total school community.
be willing to participate in sessions for the faculty intended for professional and spiritual growth.
be willing to mirror the Gospel values in relating to the adults and students.
understand the importance of integrating the curriculum with the Gospel values espoused by the Church and will to do so in his/her subject area.

Responsibilities

– plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
– develop lesson plans
– establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
– prepare classroom for class activities
– provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
– identify and select instructional resources and methods to meet students’ differentiated needs
– instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
– use relevant technology to support instruction
– observe and evaluate student’s performance and development
– assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments
– provide appropriate feedback on work
– encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
– maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development
– update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, diocesan policies and school regulations
– prepare required reports on students and activities
– manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
– maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
– apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary
– perform certain pastoral duties including but not limited to student support, counseling students with academic problems and providing student encouragement
– participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations
– participate in faculty and parent meetings
– communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
– keep up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities

Education and Experience

Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited institution, Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district, state/accreditation association, State certification or be working toward certification, Relevant teaching experience, Knowledge of relevant technology

    activities
  • be flexible and engaging as an instructor for students from Pre-K through 6th Grade

Education and Experience

Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited institution required. Experience in leading physical or educational activities preferred.

Prek-4 Lead teacher position
Requirements:
Practicing Catholic preferred
Compliance with Safe Environment requirements
Compliance with Department of Human Services (DHS) requirements
Duties:
*Teacher must teach and act with Catholic doctrinal and moral teachings of the Catholic Church.
*Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, colleagues and preschool director.
*Participate in the Diocese religion in-service programs, and in the school sponsored professional development programs.
*Perform teaching duties as assigned by the preschool director.
*Maintain accurate student attendance and academic records.
*Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students and general school matters.
*Maintain and safe, orderly and secure learning and working environment.
