School Nurse Job Description

General Description: Under the supervision of the principal, the school nurse should work to create  an environment of health and wellness in the school by: serving as a direct link to physicians, families and community health care services and agencies; providing relevant health instruction, counseling and guidance to parents, students and staff; and upholding professional standards and diocesan policies.
Duties of the job: Strives to achieve the goals of Catholic education; shows evidence of knowledge of the Catholic philosophy of education; promotes gospel values and Catholic moral teaching; upholds the doctrinal teaching of the Catholic Church
*Plans and implements school health programs in cooperation with administration
*Provides health care services to students
*Maintains accurate health records for all students
*Dispenses medication according to diocesan policy
*Keeps an accurate daily log of all student contacts
*Participates in medical examinations as directed by diocesan or school policy
*Counsels students in good health habits
*Instructs classes in skills relating to health, first aid, and emergencies
*Participates in identifying and meeting social, emotional, and physical needs of students
*Instructs all staff and volunteer coaches in CPR and first aid as needed
*Continues professional development to remain current in field
*Performs any other job related tasks deemed necessary and/or assigned by the principal
Required education, knowledge, skills, and abilities essential to job functions:
*Arikansas nurse certification
*Experience working with children
*Current CPR certification and earn CPR instruction certificate
*Be in good physical condition
*Must have strong problem solving skills and good judgement in handling different personalities and emerging situations
*Proficient communication skills with both children and adults
*Positive attitude in crisis situations
*Knowledge and understanding of positive discipline and child psychology


Job Opening -After School Care Workers

Under the supervision of the Director of Enrichment Programs, the caregiver is responsible for creating a safe environment that promotes the social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth of all students in CTK After School Care Program.


  • High School diploma and experience working with children required. 


  • Knowledge of age-appropriate activities and child development. 
  • Knowledge of safety requirements pertaining to young children. 


  • Display professionalism in punctuality, mannerisms, and attire. 
  • Follow provided lesson plans and activities. 
  • Maintain active, close supervision of students. 
  • Assist in daily preparation work and clean up of rooms. 
  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with parents and other staff members. 
  • Establish a nurturing relationship with the children in addition to serving as a positive role model. 
  • Treat children in a positive manner that encourages individuality and positive self-esteem. 
  • Acquire DHS mandated trainings including New Staff Orientation and CPR certification (arranged by program director). 
  • Thoroughly complete attendance records as well as accident and incident reports. 
  • Enforce safety rules.


This is a part time, hourly position.   After School Care runs mid August through late May, 2:40 PM to 5:30 PM, Monday though Friday.  Hours may occasionally extend outside these parameters for trainings, meetings, or other duties.
